Giorgio Merli
He followed his music studies at the Ambrosial Papal Institute of Sacred Music in Milan where he obtained his teaching diploma in Gregorian chant in 1990, under teachers L.Agustoni & F.Rampi.
He has been the vocal soloist with the ensemble since its creation and has also worked for many years with the artistic and recording activity of the Milan-based ensemble, Stirps Iesse, founded and directed by Enrico De Capitani.
For some years he has directed the Gregorian choir of St Mark’s Basilica in Milan and the group “Cantores Sancti Benedicti” of the Benedictine Abbey at Seregno. He takes part, as a soloist, and especially for Gregorian roles, in concerts and recordings with various singing groups and organists.
He combines his artistic activity with teaching at the Conservatorium in Trieste, the Ambrosial Papal Institute of Sacred Music in Milan and the Diocesan Institute of Sacred Music in Modena.
He takes part in the educational initiatives of Cantori Gregoriani and the schools of monastic culture in Milan and Seregno. |
