More than at other liturgical times, it is in the period of Lent that Gregorian chant clings, above all, to the meditation in prayer on the mysteries of Christ and of the Church. From the selection of songs, there emerge the various articulations of a profession of faith, which the Christian peoples express with trepidation in the liturgy and testify in the daily articulating of the deeds of mercy and purifying penitence.
